Replacing the factory horizontal stabilizer of the Vario Jet Ranger
Hi All,
OK, this is maybe a bit exaggerated, but I decided to replace the horizontal stabs of my Vario Jet Ranger with new 3D-printed ones. I used my Zortrax M200 and grey-colored Z-Ultrat for it. Special care has been taken for the navigation lights caps as well as for the joint of the stabs with the tail boom. This particular part (the joint) is critical as it has to be tested with the motor and the rotors turning at full power to check for vibrations. This part could also fail from fatigue on the real aircraft so it has to be tested.
The total mass with all the parts assembled is not bigger than the one before. Below you can see some preliminary results with the right stab mounted.
This is one of the last components to be 3D-printed and mounted on the helicopter before riveting and painting. Hopefully soon.
Cheeers,
